MIS MUN – 2026
20 February, 2026
The Almaty MIS MUN 2026 conference brought together approximately 100-150 participants. Delegates represented various schools from across Kazakhstan, including Almaty, Astana, and other regions, lending the event a multi-regional and educational dimension. On average, each school brought together 5-7 delegates.
The most popular section was the UN Security Council session, where meetings were held in English and included lively debates on global security and international issues. Working on the committee required a variety of diplomatic, public speaking, and analytical skills.
The two-day conference included not only meetings but also educational activities. Upon completion, participants received certificates approved by UN Kazakhstan. The program also included workshops for coordinators and an optional tour of Almaty.
The conference resolutions will be read at the closing ceremony, and all delegates will receive certificates of participation. All participants will meet in the end for the diplomatic evening, where the conference will be consolidated followed by official dinner.

Coalition Building and Intense Discussions: A Day Inside the Committees
By Livinets Georgy 8”B”
Yesterday’s session at MIS MUN 2026 was fully dedicated to drafting resolutions and forming coalitions. From the very moment I entered the room of debates, the topic was human rights it was clear that the atmosphere had shifted from formal debate to active negotiation. Delegates were no longer sitting behind their country placards — they were standing, moving around, and gathering in groups for serious discussions.
The main focus of the day was writing resolutions. Representatives divided into coalitions, searching for common ground and strategic partnerships. By the end of the discussions, two major groups had clearly formed. The next step will be similar to a voting procedure, where delegates will support the resolution, they believe is the strongest and most effective.
In total, representatives of 24 countries were involved in the process. The debates took on a more informal format, allowing participants to negotiate freely and directly. Discussions were intense and, at times, highly competitive.
One of the most noticeable dynamics was the diplomatic activity of the Russian representative. Russia proposed an initiative that appeared beneficial to Armenia and Qatar. It was easy to observe strong communication skills and strategic thinking, as Russia quickly found allies and gradually attracted other representatives into their coalition. Eventually, Russia, Canada, Qatar, and Armenia united into one group.
As the representative of Armenia stated confidently, “Quality is in the minority.” This phrase reflected their belief that influence does not always depend on numbers.
At the same time, I had the opportunity to listen to the resolution proposed by the United States, Germany, and France. Their proposal focused on maintaining satellite communication systems and using them for monitoring purposes. However, tensions were noticeable. Armenia strongly pressured the United States during negotiations, while the U.S. delegation appeared uncomfortable with the cooperation between Canada and Russia, given the current lack of friendly relations between the two states.
Overall, the session demonstrated that diplomacy is not only about public speeches, but also about strategy, alliances, and negotiation skills. The day proved that behind every resolution stands a complex network of interests, compromises, and political calculations.

The central idea of the conference is to develop communication skills among young people. MIS MUN is not just about politics or global issues — it is about teaching students how to speak confidently, listen carefully, negotiate respectfully, and express their ideas clearly. The forum creates a safe space where young participants can grow as communicators and future leaders.Young participants can earn a lot of a life-changing experience, which can help them to build successful and bright future.
One of the most memorable moments of the opening ceremony was the heartfelt message from the keynote speaker Vlastimil Samek, who is the Representative of the United Nations Department of Global Communications and the Head of the United Nations Information Office in Kazakhstan:
“Thank you for being here. Thank you for caring about your future and trying to make our future better.”
These words deeply resonated with the audience and reminded everyone why they were gathered at this event — not just to debate, but to shape everyone’s future.
A surprising and significant moment was the arrival of Russian consuls to the event. Their presence added importance and formality to the ceremony, showing that the conference is recognized beyond the school environment. They paid respect, they were interested, I might think they liked everything. Me and my team asked them some questions, they said we have a lot of opportunities. Also, they said we can improve our communication skills by this conference. ‘You are getting a lot of experience at the moment, and you will be successful if you will use it in your future’. We are really grateful for their visit.
The reaction of the audience was immediate and powerful. They welcomed the guests with loud applause. The atmosphere felt respectful, proud, and inspired. It was clear that the participants understood the importance of the moment.
The opening ceremony made it clear that exciting days are ahead. Participants can expect engaging debates, new friendships, valuable experience, and, of course, the awarding of certificates at the end of the conference. However, beyond certificates, they will gain confidence, knowledge, and unforgettable memories.
